Radiohead Days
- Thoughtful days with blinds drawn no matter sunshine or no shine. Where the temperature outside cannot be combatted simply by opening your window. Just enough heat to make your normally-chilled room a hazy layer of warm. Days where you nap under your down comforter anyway, suffocated by sleep as if being held under water. Very warm, cuddly water.
- Days where you know you could be doing X number of more useful, productive, kind, giving things instead of staring at the way the light hits your old, dusty, venetian blinds tainted by the previous tenant's DNA. But you don't give a fuck because your body is sore, you have no more food in the house, water at arm's length, and your room is so warm that if you move a hair faster you risk generating a faint sweat.
- Days where you strictly smoke your old roaches because this new shit is just too fancy and cogent. And well, you can't sleep the whole day away.
- Radiohead sings "everybody leaves, if they get the chance," in his eerie tone. Repeating "I hit the bottom and escape..." These are the days it dawns on me that I am no longer leaving. There's nothing left to escape.
- There's no where left to run.
Heh, what is funny is I get this now. I get what you mean when you talk about your music and how it makes you feel and all of that. Thanks for giving me the ability to understand you a bit better.
ReplyDeleteAnd for me it is not so much nowhere left to run as there is...there is no place left I would ever run to. I own the space I am in and I am going to fight to make that better than it is each and every second until this body no longer exists.
