"Look at it, it's gotta be close to 60!" the old man says as he gestures out the window to the sunny, jovial appearance of the landscape. The old woman laughs and assures him it's only 45 degrees outside.
And I'm sitting there thinking to myself, even the birds have their damn coats on!

I know you described it and even the science behind it, but it still boggles my mind of how cold it is and can get there.
