First Wind:
It began with a late morning at my sister Melissa's, and a late discovery of some ultra-moldy bread. I eventually hit the road at 11am, Michigan time. Michigan sucked and was unpleasant. Your roads, seriously, there's nothing like the garbage ya'll are driving on. I know I have my own world of shit to deal with now on this coast, but my tires, suspension and overall ride are not at the mercy of the government's ineptitude.
Chicago traffic. Ack! Hour and a half that town sucked from me at like 2 in the afternoon. And the tolls! What the hell! Like $20 to drive through that city, and your roads are still garbage! Every five freaking miles I was paying tolls. Just for that I cannot live in Illinois. The annoyance is unreal.
Wisconsin: a way more exciting terrain than Michigan. Crazy green, crazy intense farming. Charming to say the least. It was a fun drive that kept me awake. Thanks Wisconsin, you were probably my most lucid, happy moments. Yea, things are about to go downhill from here.
This is my best Wisconsin.
Second Wind:
Then I hit Minnesota, which was intriguing. Their radio hosts have the funniest accents! I was giggling my whole way through that state. They had some serious road construction projects along the route though. Huge new infrastructure being built and improved. No problems, was an interesting drive late through the night.
But then I hit North Dakota late. This wasn't a problem because Fargo is like right on the border, but when I tried to sleep in my car it was too loud and bright and crazy, so I left pretty quick. I drove another 150 miles that night to about 50 miles outside Bismarck. Then I was tired! I was able to keep my promise to Melissa that I would sleep! I went to sleep around 3:30am Michigan time, and was up and awake at 7:30am Michigan time. Thank you North Dakota rest stop. It was dark, fairly quiet and chill. I brushed my teeth and peaced out.
Morning!
Third Wind:
I found Bismarck to be pretty unpleasant and barren. Not like what the other parts of North Dakota look like. It was a strange town. I did take some pictures of their capitol to document the interesting points.
But North Dakota is not over just yet. Wait till I catch my groove further on! I was high in caffeine. It was a tense day.
